Love 2 Love Tour: Evita Tjon A Ten

What is more beautiful than Love? At the end of this year passion for Music will be combined with Love in wonderful locations where culinary surprises are on the menu.

After the success of Sweet Caramel on Culinary Tour in 2012, this year another special theme. At the end of this year vocalist Evita Tjon A Ten will sing about love only!
Beautiful original compositions of her CD Sweet Caramel, specially arranged pop songs, but also classic soul en jazz songs that have enchanted many hearts over the years.

Love for Love is celebrated as a serenade for the earth, yourself, that special person and the family that gives the heart a home.
The power of Love is not in the big things. Therefore, the choice is made for a small setting. Evita will sing stories about love together with various guitar stars.

Guitar Stars that will make their appearance are amongst others: Jean–Jacques Rojer, Paulo Bouwman, Thomas Bekhuis, Bas van der Wal & Jeen Rabs. Of course, Evita’s regular SIRs will play as well with the band formation.

Pre–Announcement

“SWEET APPEARANCE IN THE BEST KEPT SECRET OF ROTTERDAM”

20 OCTOBER 2011, 19:30–23:00 HRS.

HOLLAND CASINO, PURPLE LOUNGE

On 20 OCTOBER 2011, the debut CD by Evita & The SIRs, “SWEET CARAMEL”, will be served up to the world as a musical delicacy.

“Sweet Caramel”, which offers 11 songs, is the first musical project released through the recently established record label, 2112 Music Platform. This new record label and Evita Tjon A Ten have discovered that they have a mutual love for music in attune with the 21st century.

Evita & The SIRs“Sweet Caramel” herself…

Evita, who will celebrate her 25th birthday on October 8, has a sociable, warm personality, and, by her own admission, is occasionally incredibly headstrong. She is a beautiful dreamer who is making her dreams come true. In addition to her love for music, she has been a painter since she was quite young and is convinced that “Music and art can bring worlds together and can offer comfort.”. Evita composes melodies not only for herself, but also for other artists in various genres. She has shared the stage with artists such as Denise Jannah, Eric Johnson, Etta Cox and Harold Betters. This joyful dynamo has a broad palette of colors, flavors and emotions at her disposal,  not only musically, but in other areas in which she is active as well.

The flavor of Evita’s debut album is…

“Sweet Caramel”, a guarantee for a surprisingly creamy delectable blend of Jazz, Blues, Funk and Latin, with the enticing essence of Evita’s Surinamese roots. Mikel Foendoe, producer and arranger of several tracks on the CD, has artfully created a unique ambience in which the listener can savor this luscious velvety confection. Jeroen Griep, the alternate pianist and arranger on some of the tracks, together with Randy Winterdal, have used their expertise to give wings to some of Evita’s compositions. In addition to Evita’s ten original songs, Pieter van Santen, jazz pianist, composed one song on the CD.

With the lyrics and the music on “Sweet Caramel”, Evita has endeavoured to stay true to herself. Her work is the reflection of a singer, songwriter and composer who is as richly diverse as the musical influences that permeate her CD.

“Sweet Caramel” musicians are…

Soeshiel Sharma on drums, Mikel Foendoe on piano, and Randy Winterdal on bass guitar, who have been “The SIRs” from day one. Anil Sharma has since integrated his percussions into the ensemble.

The savory harmonies of The Jordan River Singers provide delightful seasoning to the album, on which various styles emanate that unmistakably “Caramel” aroma. The Amstel Horns, led by Fred van Straten, also impart a unique zest to this musical work of art.

The Golden Age of Jazz and the American guitarist, Eric Johnson, are intimately linked. Johnson has shared the stage with great musicians such as Brooke Benton, Lou Donaldson, Cassandra Wilson, Stanley Turrentine and Ramsey Lewis. After a special meeting, a musical collaboration followed between the seasoned musician and the up–and–coming young talent. After two visits to Pittsburgh (USA), where Evita and Johnson shared the stage several times, Johnson’s masterful guitar playing, together with Evita’s warm voice, mix and shine on one of the tracks of the CD.

Another musician that has also made a valuable contribution to one of the tracks of “Sweet Caramel” is the American Edwin Livingston. This double bass player has worked with artists such as Elvin Jones, Barbara Morrison, John Beasley, and has been the permanent bass player for Natalie Cole for several years now.

Guitarists Robby Alberga and Ulrich de Jesus, and percussionists Luigino Rosa and Ryan Limon, ensure the exotic Caribbean flavor laced throughout “Sweet Caramel”.

The journey of “Sweet Caramel” starts…

On October 20, 2011. The musical adventure of Evita & The SIRs’ “Sweet Caramel” will be shared with the world for the first time in the Purple Lounge at the Holland Casino Rotterdam. The location, which earned the “Best Interior Design Award” in 2010, infallibly complements the enchanting warmth of “Sweet Caramel”. Those who would like a taste of this musical work of art and to be inspired by the smooth energy and passion of Evita and her very special guests are invited to attend the CD album launch of “Sweet Caramel”. A sweet after party will follow the CD launch as well.
